ringed this morning including the first juvenile Grasshopper Warbler
(Gräshoppsångare) of the year and a juvenile Thrush Nightingale (Näktergal).
Several waders were seen migrating south past Vadarbunkern during the evening including
three Curlew Sandpiper (Spovsnäppa), a Bar-tailed Godwit (Myrspov) and 20+ Ringed
Plover
(Större strandpipare). A Marsh Harrier (Brun kärrhök) flew over the obs
late morning.

The day
started off with strong westerlies which decreased by mid-morning and picked up
again in the evening, moving to a more southwesterly direction. A bit of wader
migration was recorded from Vadarbunkern this evening with 22 Bar-tailed
Godwit
(Myrspov), a Ringed Plover (Större strandpipare), a Golden Plover (Ljungpipare)
and three Redshank (Rödbena) recorded migrating south. A Wryneck (Göktyta) was
at Saltmar and a Cuckoo (Gök) at Våta Väggen, while a Kestrel (Tornfalk) was
seen around the south. The nets were not opened today.

A blustery start to the day, very few birds were observed while walking around the island during the morning. A juvenile male sparvhök/sparrowhawk was hunting around the fågelstation, a lärkfalk/hobby went south along the east coast and two havsörn/white-tailed eagle were on the west coast prior to a storm that passed through during the afternoon.

A blustery day prevented any ringing activity. Storspov/curlew were heard but not seen going south and four gluttsnäppa/greenshank were feeding in Saltmar during the afternoon. In Bredmar five vandrande
ängstrollslända/red-veined darter were basking on the rocks and a pair were in tandem over the water. Also in Bredmar there were two Kejsartrollslända/Emperor dragonfly patrolling the edge of the reedbed and a female brun mosaikslända/brown hawker was egg laying.

A dull start to the day, sunrise was at 4:55am but it was poor light until 6am. A single tofsvipa/lapwing went south over the island, a juvenile female sparvhök/sparrowhawk was hunting to the east of the fågelstation and the first juvenile gök/cuckoo of the autumn was ringed.

A bright and clear morning. Storspov/curlew and gluttsnäppa/greenshank were heard migrating along the coasts sporadically throughout the day, the occasion storspov/curlew seen crossing the island going from east to west. Two lärkfalk/hobby flew north over the fågelstation mid morning and a single göktyta/wryneck was in Bredmar. One vandrande
ängstrollslända/red-veined darter was located in Bredmar basking on the rocks There has been an increase of starrmosaikslända with three in Bredmar and individuals seen at three other points on Landsorts and a female ovipositing in the pool at Branddammen.

with a variable north-easterly breeze. Four Garganey (Årta) and a Carrion Crow (Svartkråka) flew past Södra
Udden early morning and a Marsh Harrier (Brun Kärrhök) and an Osprey
(Fiskgjuse) flew north in the afternoon. 11 birds were ringed this morning. At least 10
Red-veined Darters (Vandrande ängstrollslända) are still around Bredmar with a handful also at Saltmar,
including some relatively freshly emerged individuals.

continued. The Moose (Älg), which has been seen sporadically throughout the

(Gök) was seen in flight near the obs.

soaring temperatures across much of western and northern Europe, today reached
30c here, the hottest day of the year so far. Around 150 Painted Ladies
(Tistelfjäril) were seen north of the obs today – we have seen another big
surge of this species in the last two days after the main arrival in June. 20 birds
were ringed this morning, including an adult male Scarlet Rosefinch
(Rosenfink).
