Overnight rain delayed the first net being opened until 4:45am and the blustery gusts restricted the number of nets that could be opened.

Observed migrating west during the morning were 26 Strandskata/oystercatcher and 8 Gluttsnäppa/greenshank. A female Sparvhök/sparrowhawk was hunting around the Fågelstation throughout the day, a Tornfalk/kestrel was hunting on the west coast and a Lärkfalk/hobby was noted late morning.

Strong wind and showers prevented any ringing activity this morning. Observation of any migration has been minimal from the office window, although three Drillsnäppa/common sandpiper were seen going west.

Overnight westerly wind and a quiet start to the day. Two Skogssnäppa/green sandpiper and one Grönbena/wood sandpiper were noted migrating west during the morning. The moth trap was also quiet but there was a Brunsprötad skymningssvärmare/bedstraw hawkmoth (Hyles gallii) which is the eighth record of this species on Artportalen for Landsort.

During the first hour after dawn, three flocks for a total of 78 Grönsiska/siskin went south and four Småspov/whimbrel went west over the island. Throughout the morning at least 6 Gluttsnäppa/greenshank went south. Late morning a feeding flock of Grönfink/greenfinch were around the Fågelstation, they were elusive but their contact calls could be heard for the duration of the afternoon.

Light rain delayed the nets being opened by 30 minutes and it remained dull until 5am when the cloud cover started to disperse. Småspov/wimbrel, Storspov/curlew and Strandskata/oystercatcher were noted migrating south but the area around the Fågelstation was quiet for passerines.

A brisk northwesterly wind this morning again limited the number of nets opened. Nine birds were ringed including a Wood Warbler (Grönsångare). At Vadarbunkern this morning 17 Oystercatcher (Strandskata), two Dunlin (Kärrsnäppa), a Velvet Scoter (Svärta), a Tufted Duck (Vigg) and two Goldeneye (Knipa) were seen migrating southwest. This evening a flock of 29 Bar-tailed Godwit (Myrspov) and two Grey Plover (Kustpipare) flew southwest. An Eyed Hawk-moth (Videsvärmare) was caught in the trap.

A brisk northwesterly breeze again limited the number of nets opened. Six birds were ringed including a Marsh Warbler (Kärrsångare) and a Reed Warbler (Rörsångare). Throughout the morning 936 Black-headed Gull (Skrattmås) were counted migrating southwest across the island, these dates in late July are typically the time of peak migration for the species. From Vadarbunkern this evening 76 Oystercatcher (Strandskata) and eight Dunlin (Kärrsnäppa) were counted migrating in one hour.

This morning 44 Oystercatcher (Strandskata) and a Ringed Plover (Större strandpipare) passed Södra Udden.

After a calm start the weather became unsettled during the afternoon. 20 birds were ringed this morning. Seven Ruff (Brushane) migrated southwest this morning and a Hobby (Lärkfalk) flew over Bredmar. An hour watching at Bredmar this evening produced two Whimbrel (Småspov), 11 Oystercatcher (Strandskata), 18 Dunlin (Kärrsnäppa), two Bar-tailed Godwit (Myrspov), seven Knot (Kustsnäppa), a Baltic Gull (Silltrut) and an Arctic Skua (Kustlabb).

In the afternoon we headed up to the tern/gull colony on the island in Norrhamn with the intention of ringing Black-headed Gull (Skrattmås) and Arctic Tern (Silvertärna) chicks. There were fewer than we had anticipated based on a recce a few days ago, possibly due to the poor weather over the intervening days. We ringed two of the former species and one of the latter, with a few chicks still too small to ring and several nests with eggs still being incubated.

Rain and strong winds prevented any nets being opened this morning and these conditions continued for most of the day. Around 1000 Swift (Tornseglare) were seen migrating south in groups throughout the day.
