2nd July 2020

Calmer conditions prevailed for most of the day with wind picking up significantly during the evening. 23 birds were ringed, including the first juvenile Wren (Gärdsmyg) of the year. In the afternoon we headed up to the tern/gull colony on the island in Norrhamn with the intention of ringing Black-headed Gull (Skrattmås) and Arctic Tern (Silvertärna) chicks. There were fewer than we had anticipated based on a recce a few days ago, possibly due to the poor weather over the intervening days. We ringed two of the former species and one of the latter, with a few chicks still too small to ring and several nests with eggs still being incubated.
