A Dusky Warbler (Brunsångare) was seen up near Norrhamn, a Red-flanked Bluetail (Blåstjärt) at Våta Vägen, another Pallas’s Warbler was at Fyren and an Arctic Redpoll (Snösiska) was seen briefly at Fågelstationen. 8 Gadwall (Snatterand) were at Jutvik.

Incoming rain from the south meant we had to close the nets we had open by 0800, which is reflected in the low ringing figures with 43 birds ringed. A Great Grey Shrike (Varfågel) was at Kasberget mid-morning and a Marsh Harrier (Brun kärrhök) flew over, a Short-eared Owl (Jorduggla) was flushed from the west coast by Södra Lunden. A flock of 21 Bean Geese (Sädgäss) migrated southwest early afternoon.

Strong wind overnight dropped throughout the morning and all nets were eventually opened. 435 birds were ringed including a late Sedge Warbler (Sävsångare) and Garden Warbler (Trädgårdssångare). A Pallas’s Warbler (Kungsfågelsångare) was seen south of Fågelstationen, and another or the same bird was still present in the Village around the chapel. A Little Bunting (Dvärgsparv) and a Hawfinch (Stenknäck) flew south over Fågelstationen this morning and four Pink-footed Geese (Spetsbergsgäs) were seen migrating this evening.

A windy day with only five nets opened this morning, nonetheless there were still a lot of crests about and we ringed 74 birds, including a Yellow-browed Warbler (Tajgasångare). The Pallas’s Warbler (Kungsfågelsångare) was still present in the village. A large passage of White-fronted Geese (Bläsgäs) migrated down the east coast, and among a group that migrated over Fågelstationen were three Lesser White-fronted Goose (Fjällgås). A Lapland Bunting (Lappsparv) was present circled several times on the west coast and landed on the east coast.

The first Great Grey Shrike (Varfågel) of the autumn was also ringed. In the village a Pallas’s Warbler (Kungsfågelsångare) was present around the chapel and seen sporadically during the morning and afternoon, and at one point was in the same small bush as a Red-flanked Bluetail (Tajgablåstjärt) which briefly put in an appearance this afternoon!

Another day with incredible migration throughout the day. 624 birds were ringed of which the majority (473) were Goldcrest (Kungsfågel), a late Garden Warbler (Trädgårdssångare) was also caught. A Red-flanked Bluetail (Tajgablåstjärt) was present in the village at Öbergs trädgård where it showed well throughout the afternoon. 1645 Barnacle Goose (Vitkindad gås) and 80 White-fronted Goose (Bläsgås) migrated southwest.

Several flocks of Barnacle Goose (Vitkindade gås) amounting to 1566 birds migrated southwest along with 18 Brent Goose (Prutgås). A Red-flanked Bluetail (Tajga blåstjärt) was found late morning at Södra Udden and a Bluethroat (Blåhake) was seen there during the evening.

A truly unforgettable day of migration! A continuous stream of flocks of hundreds of finches flew south throughout the day and hundreds of Robins (Rödhake) and Goldcrests (Kungsfågel) also migrated through. 641 birds were ringed, from when nets were opened at 0600 when the rain stopped, until 1800 when we finally closed them. The majority were Goldcrest (Kungsfågel), of which 329 were ringed, as well as these we controlled one with an Estonian ring! New ringing day records for Landsort were set for Yellow-browed Warbler (Tajgasångare) with seven ringed and Meadow Pipit (Ängspiplärka) with 15 ringed.

275 birds were ringed today, of which the majority (145) were Goldcrest (Kungsfågel). A Yellow-browed Warbler (Tajgasångare) was also caught. A Tawny Pipit (Fältpiplärka) was seen migrating from Norra Udden where over 900 Song Thrush (Taltrast) were also seen migrating. A Great Grey Shrike (Varfågel) was at Fågelstationen mid-morning, two Red-breasted Flycatcher (Mindre flugsnappare) were in the village and up to five Yellow-browed Warbler (Tajgasångare) were seen throughout the island.

Strong northwesterly wind meant that no nets could be opened today. Migration highlights from Södra Udden included: 279 Sparrowhawk (Sparvhök), 32 Rough-legged Buzzard (Fjällvråk), 1700 Cormorant (Storskarv), 1 Red-throated Pipit (Rödstrupig piplärka), 4 Merlin (Stenfalk), two Hobby (Lärkfalk), one Grey Plover (Kustpipare) and one Peregrine Falcon (Pilgrimsfalk), a Golden Eagle (Kungsörn) was seen distantly over Torö.

The day started foggy and calm, with the fog finally lifting around 11:00 and wind picking up throughout the day. In contrast to yesterday, only 21 birds were ringed. When the fog had lifted it became quite good for raptor migration with a number of Honey Buzzard (Bivråk), Hobby (Lärkfalk), Merlin (Stenfalk) and two Osprey (Fiskgjuse).

A calm day with westerly wind dropping off to almost nothing and eventually swinging round to the east during the evening. 195 birds were ringed. A Nutcracker (Nötkråka) and a Lapland Bunting (Lappsparv) were seen from Södra Udden this morning. Two Honey Buzzard (Bivråk) and a Marsh Harrier (Brun kärrhök) turned at S. Udden and returned north, while a flock of five Caspian Terns (Skräntärna) flew southwest early-afternoon.

A calmer day this morning so all nets were opened to begin with, with some closed after a couple of hours due to the wind picking up. 115 birds were ringed. There was moderate passerine migration this morning including the first few Brambling (Bergfink). 36 Wigeon (Bläsand) migrated southwest and a Marsh Harrier (Brun kärrhök) south.

The weather was not suitable to open any nets today. Not much to note for migration during the morning, approximately 35 bofink/chaffinch were seen around the Fågelstation and there were small feeding flocks of Kungsfågel/goldcrest at Jutvik and Saltmar.

A much calmer morning and all the nets were open at the start of the day. Sädesärla/white wagtail and Grönsiska/siskin dominated the vismig going south. Also seen going south over the island during the morning were Trädpiplärka/tree pipit, Ängspiplärka/meadow pipit and a single Skärpiplärka/rock pipit went south on the east coast late morning. A Pilgrimsfalk/Peregrine falcon was going south along the west coast mid morning.

Notable sightings from Fyren this morning include one Black-throated Diver (Storlom), four Wigeon (Bläsand), a Ringed Plover (Större strandpipare), 535 Cormorant (Storskarv), 38 Sparrowhawk (Sparvhök), two Osprey (Fiskgjuse), two Merlin (Stenfalk), a Hobby (Lärkfalk), a Marsh Harrier (Brun kärrhök) and a Common Buzzard (Ormvråk).
