Rain this morning prevented any nets being opened. A Wryneck (Göktyta) was seen near Norrhamn and there was a pair of Slavonian Grebe (Svarthakedopping) at both Norrhamn and Saltmar. Several flocks of Dunlin (Kärrsnäppa) were seen migrating.

Migrants from two hours at Södra Udden this morning included: two Great-crested Grebe (Skäggdopping), one Black-throated Diver (Storlom), three Velvet Scoter (Svärta), two Common Scoter (Sjöorre), 15 Tufted Duck (Vigg), 28 Teal (Kricka), one Avocet (Skärfläcka), four Bar-tailed Godwit (Myspov), nine Greenshank (Gluttsnäppa), one Wood Sandpiper (Grönbena), two Green Sandpiper (Skogssnäppa), 14 Curlew (Storspov), 25 Whimbrel (Småspov), 50 Dunlin (Myrspov) and a Ruff (Brushane). 31 birds were ringed.

10 birds were ringed this morning. A Temminck’s Stint (Mosnäppa) migrated southwest over Bredmar at 0930. Several Green Sandpiper (Skogssnäppa) were present in the area and a Snipe (Enkelbeckasin) was also seen.

Rain moved in by late morning and continued throughout the early afternoon, while the wind picked up significantly after a relatively calm start to the day. 22 birds were ringed this morning, including a Wood Warbler (Grönsångare). 14 Curlew (Storspov) were seen migrating south while three Whimbrel (Småspov) and several Greenshank (Gluttsnäppa) were also seen migrating.

Calmer conditions prevailed for most of the day with wind picking up significantly during the evening. 23 birds were ringed, including the first juvenile Wren (Gärdsmyg) of the year. In the afternoon we headed up to the tern/gull colony on the island in Norrhamn with the intention of ringing Black-headed Gull (Skrattmås) and Arctic Tern (Silvertärna) chicks. There were fewer than we had anticipated based on a recce a few days ago, possibly due to the poor weather over the intervening days. We ringed two of the former species and one of the latter, with a few chicks still too small to ring and several nests with eggs still being incubated.

A Poplar Hawk-moth (Poppelsvärmare) was among moths caught in the trap last night. A Hobby (Lärkfalk) flew south over Fågelstationen late morning, a Wryneck (Göktyta) was seen briefly at Saltmar and four Whimbrel (Småspov) and seven Curlew (Storspov) were seen migrating over Norrhamn during the afternoon.

24 birds were ringed this morning, also caught was a Finnish ringed Swallow (Ladusvala). Some wader passage occurred during the morning with a flock of 30 Bar-tailed Godwits (Myspov), two Grey Plover (Kustpipare), a Whimbrel (Småspov), two Lapwing (Tofsvipa) and several Greenshank (Gluttsnäppa) and Curlew (Storspov). The Greenish Warbler (Lundsångare) was singing at Våta Vägen and a Honey Buzzard (Bivråk) flew over Fågelstationen mid-morning.

15 birds were ringed this morning including the first juvenile Lesser Whitethroats (Ärtsångare) of the year. In the afternoon two Ruff (Brushane) were at Jutvik and two Spotted Redshank (Svartsnäppa) migrated over.

24 birds were ringed this morning, including a Swift (Tornseglare), the fifth to be ringed on Landsort (three of the previous four were in 2018). Although Swifts now breed in the nestboxes on the side of the building, it is still very rare to catch this highly aerial species in the mist nets! Also caught was the first Song Thrush (Taltrast) juvenile of the year, two Swallow (Ladusvala) and a House Martin (Hussvala).

28 birds were ringed this morning, including the first House Martin (Hussvala) to be ringed this year. The moth trap was particularly busy last night and among those caught were one Eyed Hawk-moth (Videsvärmare), one Elephant Hawk-moth (Större snabelsvärmare) and two Small Elephant Hawk-moth (Mindre snabelsvärmare).

16 birds were ringed this morning. Two Sandwich Tern (Kentsk tärna) migrated east past Södra Udden late morning and a Privet Hawk-moth (Ligustersvärmare) was caught in the trap. At around 1900 19 Grey Heron (Gråhäger) circled over Bredmar then flew back north.

Another windy day, only more sheltered nets were opened this morning. Two birds were ringed. A Hawfinch (Stenknäck) flew in from the south and landed in trees at Bredmar at 0700 and a Shelduck (Gravand) flew west at 1100.
A breezy day with wind picking up throughout, the number of nets opened was limited by this. Eight birds were ringed. A Hobby (Lärkfalk) was present around Bredmar and a Poplar Hawk-moth (Poppelsvärmare) was caught in the trap.
Nets were not opened until after the rain cleared at around 5am today, seven birds were ringed. 120 Swift (Tornseglare) were seen over Fågelstationen between rain showers this morning and the Siberian Chiffchaff (Sibirisk gransångare) was again singing around Bredmar. A Privet Hawk-moth (Ligustersvärmare) was caught in the trap and there was a Lobster Moth (Ekorrspinnare) on one of the net poles.

A strong easterly breeze to start the day and rain on the radar delayed the nets being opened until 7am, when the much needed rain had stopped. During the shower 6 tofsvipa/lapwing landed on the field to the north of the Fågelstation, they then continued north later in the morning. A total of 21 Lapwing were seen during the morning, all going north. There was a Sibirisk gransångare/Siberian chiffchaff singing near the Fågelstation after dawn and 24 mindre korsnäbb/red crossbill were migrating west mid morning.

21 birds were ringed at Bredmar this morning including a juvenile Crested Tit (Tofsmes), this is the sixth to be ringed on Landsort, with the last in 2018; the species is not known to breed on Landsort but occasional birds wander down here from the mainland. In addition, eight Great Tit (Talgoxe) chicks were ringed in nestboxes. The Siberian Chiffchaff (Sibirisk Gransångare) was singing again at Bredmar and one of yesterday’s birds was recaptured. 35 Common Crossbill (Mindre korsnäbb) were present around Bredmar this morning. Two Greenish Warbler (Lundsångare) were singing at Våta Vägen.
13 birds were ringed at Bredmar this morning, with an additional 13 Great Tit (Talgoxe) chicks ringed in nestboxes. A Siberian Chiffchaff (Sibirisk gransångare) was found singing by Fyren this morning and one was later heard at Fågelstationen, where two were subsequently ringed.
Another windy day, with only more sheltered nets opened this morning. Ten birds were ringed at Bredmar this morning and an additional 36 Great Tit (Talgoxe) chicks and one Blue Tit (Blåmes) chick were ringed in nestboxes. A Greenish Warbler (Lundsångare) was singing at Våta Vägen and a Lapwing (Tofsvipa) and a Whimbrel (Småspov) flew over Jutvik early afternoon. A flock of 19 Common Crossbill (Mindre korsnäbb) were flying around this morning and six more were seen at Batteri this evening.

A clear and sunny day with a brisk northeasterly wind picking up through the afternoon. 24 birds were ringed this morning including six Siskin (Grönsiska), a species we have caught very few of so far this year.
