Nets were closed early today due to rain and increasing wind. 40 birds were ringed. Waxwing (Sidensvans) numbers have been building in the past week and a flock of 100+ was present around Bredmar this afternoon.

Nets were opened late this morning due to a wet and windy start to the day. 173 birds were ringed, including ten Long-tailed Tits (Stjärtmesar), and a Nuthatch (Nötväcka). A Golden Eagle (Kungsörn) and a Goshawk (Duvhök) were seen late morning.

No nets were opened this morning due to strong wind which continued throughout the day. A Common Buzzard (Ormvråk) flew over Fågelstationen mid afternoon.
130 birds were ringed this morning, with the majority again being Redpoll (Gråsiska). This total now puts us over 13,000 birds ringed in 2020! A flock of Long-tailed Tit (Stjärtmes) migrated past Fågelstationen mid-morning.

491 birds were ringed this morning including 61 Wren (Gärdsmyg), a new day record (the previous record being 49). We also ringed five Bearded Tits (Skäggmes), the first since April 2018, and 44 Bullfinch (Domherre). Several large flocks of Crane (Trana) totalling 718 migrated southwest this evening.
This morning we broke the previous year record for Landsort set in 2014 when 11,900 birds were ringed. As of today, 12,256 birds have been ringed in 2020, with several weeks still to go! 356 birds were ringed today including two Great Grey Shrike (Varfågel). In addition, we caught a Blue Tit (Blåmes) with a Polish ring and a Lesser Redpoll (Brunsiska) with a Norwegian ring!

141 birds were ringed this morning. 48 Scaup (Bergand) and a Smew (Salskrake) were seen migrating southwest. Two Nutcracker (Nötkråka) turned at Södra Udden and a Richard’s Pipit (Större piplärka) flew south over Bredmar.
373 birds were ringed this morning, including the first 12 Bullfinch (Domherre) of the autumn. A Great Egret (Ägretthäger) flew over Bredmar late morning and a Nutcracker (Nötkråka) flew north up the island.

87 birds were ringed this morning with net numbers limited by a southwesterly wind. A Pallas’s Warbler (Kungsfågelsångare) was among those ringed, the first since 2017. A Dusky Warbler (Brunsångare) was seen up near Norrhamn, a Red-flanked Bluetail (Blåstjärt) at Våta Vägen, another Pallas’s Warbler was at Fyren and an Arctic Redpoll (Snösiska) was seen briefly at Fågelstationen. 8 Gadwall (Snatterand) were at Jutvik.
335 birds were ringed today including a Radde’s Warbler (Videsångare), the third to be ringed on Landsort, and a Yellow-browed Warbler (Tajgasångare), the 17th individual on this exceptional autumn for the species. Notable migration counts from this morning at Fyren include: 4287 Brent Goose (Prutgås), 846 White-fronted Goose (Bläsgås), 146 Bean Goose (Sädgås), 84 Barnacle Goose (Vitkindad gås), 263 Long-tailed Duck (Alfågel), 530 Common Scoter (Sjöorre) and 87 Velvet Scoter (Svärta).

Incoming rain from the south meant we had to close the nets we had open by 0800, which is reflected in the low ringing figures with 43 birds ringed. A Great Grey Shrike (Varfågel) was at Kasberget mid-morning and a Marsh Harrier (Brun kärrhök) flew over, a Short-eared Owl (Jorduggla) was flushed from the west coast by Södra Lunden. A flock of 21 Bean Geese (Sädgäss) migrated southwest early afternoon.

Strong wind overnight dropped throughout the morning and all nets were eventually opened. 435 birds were ringed including a late Sedge Warbler (Sävsångare) and Garden Warbler (Trädgårdssångare). A Pallas’s Warbler (Kungsfågelsångare) was seen south of Fågelstationen, and another or the same bird was still present in the Village around the chapel. A Little Bunting (Dvärgsparv) and a Hawfinch (Stenknäck) flew south over Fågelstationen this morning and four Pink-footed Geese (Spetsbergsgäs) were seen migrating this evening.

A windy day with only five nets opened this morning, nonetheless there were still a lot of crests about and we ringed 74 birds, including a Yellow-browed Warbler (Tajgasångare). The Pallas’s Warbler (Kungsfågelsångare) was still present in the village. A large passage of White-fronted Geese (Bläsgäs) migrated down the east coast, and among a group that migrated over Fågelstationen were three Lesser White-fronted Goose (Fjällgås). A Lapland Bunting (Lappsparv) was present circled several times on the west coast and landed on the east coast.
528 birds were ringed this morning, most of which were again Goldcrest (Kungsfågel) taking the total of this species ringed in the past two days to over 900! The first Great Grey Shrike (Varfågel) of the autumn was also ringed. In the village a Pallas’s Warbler (Kungsfågelsångare) was present around the chapel and seen sporadically during the morning and afternoon, and at one point was in the same small bush as a Red-flanked Bluetail (Tajgablåstjärt) which briefly put in an appearance this afternoon!
Another day with incredible migration throughout the day. 624 birds were ringed of which the majority (473) were Goldcrest (Kungsfågel), a late Garden Warbler (Trädgårdssångare) was also caught. A Red-flanked Bluetail (Tajgablåstjärt) was present in the village at Öbergs trädgård where it showed well throughout the afternoon. 1645 Barnacle Goose (Vitkindad gås) and 80 White-fronted Goose (Bläsgås) migrated southwest.

A windier day and thus only more sheltered nets were opened, and several more were closed as the wind picked up throughout the day. 457 birds were ringed, of which the majority (269) were Goldcrest (Kungsfågel), also ringed were two Yellow-browed Warbler (Tajgasångare). Several flocks of Barnacle Goose (Vitkindade gås) amounting to 1566 birds migrated southwest along with 18 Brent Goose (Prutgås). A Red-flanked Bluetail (Tajga blåstjärt) was found late morning at Södra Udden and a Bluethroat (Blåhake) was seen there during the evening.
A calm and clear day. 268 birds were ringed from opening until the last nets were closed at 15:30. A Common Crossbill (Mindre korsnäbb) flew south over Fågelstationen late morning.

A calm but overcast day, with all of the nets opened. 261 birds were ringed, including a late Garden Warbler (Trädgårdssångare) and a Yellow-browed Warbler (Tajgasångare), the 13th this autumn.
The wind had dropped from yesterday but still prevented a couple of the more exposed nets being opened this morning. 385 birds were ringed, 259 of which were Goldcrest (Kungsfågel).
The wind continued from a north-easterly direction and picked up in strength throughout the day. Another busy day of ringing with 345 birds ringed, including another Yellow-browed Warbler (Tajgasångare). Six Hen Harrier (Blå kärrhök) were seen migrating as were over 100 Sparrowhawk (Sparvhök). A Great Grey Shrike (Varfågel) was around Bredmar and a Peregrine Falcon (Pilgrimsfalk) flew north.
A truly unforgettable day of migration! A continuous stream of flocks of hundreds of finches flew south throughout the day and hundreds of Robins (Rödhake) and Goldcrests (Kungsfågel) also migrated through. 641 birds were ringed, from when nets were opened at 0600 when the rain stopped, until 1800 when we finally closed them. The majority were Goldcrest (Kungsfågel), of which 329 were ringed, as well as these we controlled one with an Estonian ring! New ringing day records for Landsort were set for Yellow-browed Warbler (Tajgasångare) with seven ringed and Meadow Pipit (Ängspiplärka) with 15 ringed.

210 birds were ringed this morning including two Sparrowhawk (Sparvhök), two Meadow Pipit (Ängspiplärka) and a Redstart (Rödstjärt). The day started calm but damp after heavy showers last night. The wind gradually picked up throughout the day to a strong easterly by evening. Two Hen Harrier (Blå kärrhök) migrated south along with some flocks of Brent Goose (Prutgås).

64 birds were ringed this morning including the autumn’s fourth Yellow-browed Warbler (Tajgasångare) as well as a Nuthatch (Nötväcka), the first ringed here for a few weeks.
