18th October 2019

Another misty start gave way to a considerably brighter and sunnier day today. 200 birds were ringed today including another Siberian Chiffchaff (Sibirisk gransångare). Frustratingly, both a Goshawk (Duvhök) and a Long-eared Owl (Hornuggla) evaded capture first thing, the former was seen again later in the morning before heading out to sea toward the mainland. Two Woodlark (Trädlärka) migrated over Södra Udden where 95 Brent Goose (Prutgås) were also counted and four Purple Sandpiper (Skärsnäppa) were on a small skerry to the west. A Great Grey Shrike (Varfågel) was around the weather station south of Österhamn and a Black Redstart (Svart rödstjärt) was at the obs. A Short-eared Owl was at Södra Lunden.
