27th August 2018

Nets opened at 0445 and closed at 1100 with 23 new birds of 6 species.

Additional guiding given from 1130 until 1245 to 11 staff from Tyresta National Park.

Guided talks this year to over 400 people have included discussion about how we all need to play our part in helping our environment. This has proved to be a popular and thought-provoking part of the talk, with much discussion and positive feedback.

Disappointed today to see that the sides of the road on the island are being trimmed, removing the last of the flowers that insects need. This is the second time this year it has been done, the first in May!!! It is a challenge to change the minds of the public when the evidence of poor land management by the system is so clearly on view in a nature reserve!!!

Bird bags washed. Some net repairs done.

There will be two at the Obs overnight: Chris & Kay. Update – Mikael has just been informed us he is coming out, so three, not two.
