A foggy day, although it brightened up a bit in the late morning and afternoon. 34 birds were ringed at Bredmar this morning including the first Scarlet Rosefinch (Rosenfink) of the year. During the afternoon the first 28 Starling (Stare) chicks of the year were ringed from nestboxes in the north of the island. A Water Rail (Vattenrall) was calling throughout the morning from Bredmar, presumably the bird that was holding territory earlier in the spring although we haven’t heard it for a few weeks.
